In Japan, the word “Sa-katsu,” meaning a sauna activity, was born and has been very popular.
At SHITARA VILLAGE, we have introduced authentic Finnish saunas, so you can enjoy a great outdoor sauna activity in nature.
About saunas
What is a sauna?
Sauna originated as a type of a steam bath designed to promote a healthier body by sweating in a hot room and improving metabolism.
In general, wood benches surround a sauna stove that keeps the sauna room at a high temperature of 80 ~ 100 degrees.
At SHITARA VILLAGE, you can enjoy a popular barrel sauna as an outdoor sauna activity and relax on Infinity Chair creating a luxurious atmosphere.
What is “Totonou”?
To achieve the feeling of “Totonou” in a sauna, there are three steps: sweating in the sauna room, cooling the body’s surface in a cold bath, and relaxing outside to get fresh air (Rest).
By repeating this process, it gradually warms your body from within, clears your mind, and allows you to have a sense of happiness, eventually leading to the feeling of “Totonou.”
At SHITARA VILLAGE, you can feel a gentle relaxing breeze and enjoy the “Totonou” experience.
Effect
It helps adjust the autonomic nervous system, leading to stress relief.
Additionally, there are several good effects and benefits, such as a detox and improved metabolism due to better blood circulation, while individual results may vary.
How to enjoy a sauna
Before entering a sauna, make sure to hydrate very well and wash your body and hair.
The higher the seat, the warmer it feels, so beginners should start on lower steps and stay for about 6 ~ 12 mins at a comfortable pace.
Repeat the process of taking a cold bath and relaxing outside anytime you like.
It is recommended to spend time relaxing outside twice as long as you do in the sauna.
Notes
If you are not feeling well, exhausted, or new to sauna, please avoid pushing yourself as it may cause lightheadedness and dehydration.
Plus, it is not recommended for those with a chronic illness, those who are pregnant, or children under the age of 10.
Please refrain from using a sauna soon after drinking alcohol or eating. It is recommended to wait 1 ~ 2 hours after a meal.
Please remember to hydrate regularly and enjoy our sauna at a comfortable pace.
